How To Remove A Program From Startup – Make your computer more faster

Have you ever wondered how to remove programs from automatically starting when you start your computer?

Some programs and applications are set to automatically start up when you log on to Windows. During installation, some programs are set to automatically run on start up, or they may give you the option to choose to load it on start up.

There are a few ways to go about removing a program from start up, depending on the application. Some programs, such as MSN Messenger, have an option in its setting to remove it from start up, i.e. “Automatically Run Windows Live Messenger When I Log Onto Windows” in the General Tab. Simply uncheck this and it should not load automatically.

The last way to remove a program from starting up when you load Windows is to make changes to your Windows System Configuration Utility.

Press Start > Run
Run Window (or Windows Key+R)
Type msconfig and press enter

Go to the Startup tab Windows System Configuration Utility

Uncheck the programs you don’t want to load on start up.
Click Apply, and restart your computer to make sure it worked.

Please make sure you know which programs to uncheck. You may also go back to this window to undo what you have just done. Some programs or applications have weird Item names which seem to not match the program.

Look at the Command column for further verification. If you are unsure about a certain application, do not uncheck it. Something you regularly use, may no longer work anymore (unless you recheck the Item later on).
